“Care personally. Challenge directly. That’s what Radical Candor is all about.”

In this episode of The Business Book Club, we explore Radical Candor by Kim Scott — a powerful guide to building better leaders, stronger teams, and more open, honest workplace cultures. Based on Scott’s experience leading teams at Google and Apple, Radical Candor provides a clear framework for delivering feedback that both challenges and cares.

The core message is simple: great leadership happens when you combine personal care with direct challenge. Scott argues that avoiding difficult conversations doesn’t help anyone — and that real growth, trust, and collaboration come from honesty delivered with empathy. We discuss how the Radical Candor model can transform performance, improve communication, and strengthen relationships across all levels of an organisation.

In this episode, we also examine the balance between compassion and accountability — exploring how leaders can speak truthfully without creating fear, and how teams thrive in cultures built on openness and respect. It’s a conversation for anyone who leads, mentors, or wants to communicate with courage and authenticity.
